If you plan to cancel or reschedule your upcoming Event for any reason, here are the instructions:
1) Archive your Event after posting an Announcement log notifying users of your intention to cancel the Event if you have no intentions of re-scheduling. Once archived, the page cannot be edited.
2) If you plan to reschedule the Event at some time in the future, email one of the MN Reviewers asking to have your Event retracted. This way you have the option of rescheduling it if you want to without creating an entirely new listing. Once a cache page is retracted, anyone who is watching the page or has it bookmarked will not see any communications between you and Reviewers.
If a host reschedules their Event, it would need to go through the review process again.
These instructions are also in line with the instructions Geocaching HQ posted to all Events on 3/13/2020:
For hosts who wish to cancel their Events, we suggest that they: 1. Create an Announcement log to notify users that the Event is cancelled. 2. Archive the listing. 3. If hosts wish to reschedule the Event, submit a new listing.
Updated March 27th 2020 Minnesota- Community First - Event/CITOs and Social Distancing (COVID-19)
On March 25, 2020 Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced a "Stay in Place" order stating:
"Beginning on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11:59 pm through Friday, April 10, 2020 at 5:00 pm, all persons currently living within the State of Minnesota are ordered to stay at home or in their place of residence except to engage in the Activities and Critical Sector".
In response to Federal and State directives recommending that social distancing be practiced to aid in the control of COVID-19 and with the 'Say at Home' order issued by Governor Walz, the following has been implemented :
-Events/CITOs will not be Published in Minnesota at least until April 10 and then only if your location is verified to be available.
-Upcoming Events/CITOs in Minnesota scheduled to be hosted between today and April 10th 2020 will be Archived or Retracted/Unpublished if the host does not take any action.
-While the heightened state of caution continues, future Events/CITOs beyond that date that have been already Published in Minnesota may be re-assessed on a weekly and ongoing basis.
-If you are an Event/CITO host and you wish to cancel your activity - please post an Announcement log (to inform your Will Attends) and then Archive your cache page.
-If you are an Event/CITO host and you wish to reschedule your activity - please contact your Reviewer (via their Profile Page) and request your page be Retracted/Unpublished.
At this time we are still publishing geocaches, but this is subject to change if conditions warrant.
